Sun may actually be a great fragrance to wear during the winter to evoke summer - much better than some kind of thin, short-lived summer cologne. I looked for it online, found a very cheap deal on a 75ml bottle + a 100 ml body/hair shampoo - so I snatched it. This is a tipical old-school vanilla, tonka and benzoin combination spiced up with sweetness from ylang ylang, fruity vibe and carnation.

Jil Sander and Guerlain are my favorite fragrance houses, and Sun is my favorite Jil Sander frag and my signature fragrance. Like a girl who just got ready in her bathroom back in the 90s, but it smells like lotion and shower cream (yeah, maybe that was Sun Lotion? The entire composition peaks with sweet vanilla and tonka beans, complemented by warm, woody accords.There is a similarity in the bases, however, and the longer they dry down the more similar they become with Sun 30th leaning woody and Sun leaning amber. The drydown is woody,creamy,moderatly sweet and musky and I get some -sandalwood,ambery vanilla,benzoin,tonka and musk.

Watery coconut and creamy tiare, supported in the background by a soft fizzy combo of aldehydes, grapefruit and patchouli settles out onto a musky ambrette base with clean touches from orange blossom. I‘m confused about the reviews that say this is a clean or even simple smell, there is so much going on and none of it reminds me of sun cream, summer or anything light. I'm trying out JS Sun in our Southern California "cold" season, and it's a nice, warm smell, but I could see how it could potentially work year round. This smells like a high end sun cream that has mostly been sweated and worn off after all day sun tanning and swimming.Much like Prada L'eau Ambree (another unique and amazing scent) but it doesn't smell like the Prada, it just has the same sort of feel. European sunscreen, slightest vanilla and very unisex in my opinion (but I am a product of my generation- where everything that isn’t super sweet is not feminine lol). Everyone and their mother were happily spraying away :D The dry down is even a little masculine with a fresh undertone to it!
