About this deal

In his first book David Jason told us about himself from his early years training as an electrician through to making it as one of Britain's actors. I found myself having to pause the audio at a few spots because I couldn't hear the reading over my laughter. A born practical joker, he was naturally in awe of those a little further up the ladder in the hall of fame. I like a biography, I seem to read enough of them lately, so this one seemed like it would provide a little amusement. The stories of how close the cast got and the immense loss David felt when members of the cast and crew passed away show just how much this show came to mean to people – whilst the nation took it into their hearts and cherished it, the cast and crew became a family.

Obviously, this book wouldn’t be able to get away without including the phenomenon that is Only Fools And Horses. Many people think they know David from the countless books that have been written on him but I have been waiting for this book for a very long time. The series features exclusive new interviews with many of David's co-stars from more than 50 years on television - including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Pam Ferris, Michael Palin, Stephanie Cole, Johnny Vegas and Tim Healy. All started to improve when he wrote more about Porridge, Open All Hours , Fools and Horses, The Darling Buds of May and all his other television roles. Quite a chunk of the book is taken up by David’s early years and whilst I found these interesting, I do believe he could have either cut them down a little or added some more depth to stories of his later life.I listened to the audiobook, David Jason read the first chapter, but no further, this jarred a little bit and I never really got used to the second narrator.

She gave birth to twin boys at North Middlesex Hospital in Edmonton, London, in February 1940, but Jason's twin brother died during childbirth, making him a twinless twin.In 1992, he signed a golden handcuffs deal with ITV to star as Detective Inspector Jack Frost in the long-running TV series A Touch of Frost (Yorkshire Television/ITV). But life hasn't all been so easy- from missing out on a key role in Dad's Army to nearly drowning in a freak diving accident, David has had his fair share of ups and downs, and has lost some of his nearest and dearest along the way. This included voices for Danger Mouse, The BFG, Count Duckula, Hugo from Victor and Hugo, and Toad from The Wind in the Willows, all produced by Cosgrove Hall for Thames Television/ITV.
